5/28/05, 64°F.
Another milestone night. Our biggest listenership of 2005 with the world premiere of Norway's Wobbler. Wobbler's forthcoming album has been the buzz since they were announced to play at Nearfest 05. Ken Golden was our guest for The Laser's Edge VOLUME II: The Golden Years 1995-2005. We featured each of Ken's releases from the last decade under the LE banner. Amidst our pre-recorded interview, we received word that a tornado was heading for Pemberton within 20 minutes. As I ran outside to investigate and close up the Jeep, there was not a bird or animal to be seen. I knew something was up. As I turned around, the black clouds arrived. Within minutes, a wind funnel had touched down in Burrs Mill, just 4 miles away. Yeesh! As the broadcast began, we peaked with 184 listeners at 10:30 at the premiere of the new Wobbler. Our servers at z889 were hit so many times simultaneously, that we were knocked offline 3x. Bittersweet I guess. I was spent by the end, but what a great show. We welcomed listeners in Cardiff, Nottingham, and Portsmouth England tonight, also in Oslo, Norway, and state side here in Jamestown, VA. This program ran 4 hours and 20 minutes.
